About the Institutions

The Rajam Krishnamurthy Public School (RKPS) is one of the best schools in Trichy. RKPS is born out of the accumulated heritage of a century of educational experience and national spirit embodied in the prestigious institution famously known as National College, Tiruchirappalli, which was founded in 1919.

The National College alumni include, among others, Mr. R. Venkataraman, the eighth President of India and Padma Vibhushan; and Dr. C. Rangarajan, former Governor of RBI and former Chairman of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister.

RKPS initiated its educational journey with the Pre-KG, LKG and UKG sections in 2018-19. It commenced class I to VI from the academic year 2019-20, and initiated its primary and middle school expeditions which expanded to class to VIII in 2021-22. In the forthcoming academic year, 2022-23, the school will invite admissions for class I to IX as per the CBSE norms.

With the century old National College already standing as a strong edifice to support the aspiring students, a child who enters RKPS at the foundation level will have the opportunity to pursue the chosen field of higher education in Arts, Commerce or Science streams up to post graduate level within the same campus, adhering to the highest standards of education amidst the best of infrastructure.

“In Memory of MRS. RAJAM KRISHNAMURTHY”

Rajam Krishnamurthy, wife of Dr. V. Krishnamurthy, was born in 1932 in Tamil Nadu. As the daughter of a school teacher, education was always close to her heart. She was a learner throughout her life. She was of the view that learning is not confined to a particular age and one is never too old to learn anything. Her stress was on holistic education, which is not restricted just to academics but which encompasses different levels of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual development. She believed in the concept that human beings are multi – dimensional and need an all-round development of personality. She was particularly passionate about educating girl children and had supported many young children during her life time to secure good education. This school is a tribute to her life-long efforts to ensure that education is accessible to all strata of society and to her belief that holistic education is a right that no child must be denied
